Natalie
Listen to Natalie's story
Natalie grew up in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, with a childhood shaped by instability and absence. Yet even in those earliest years, there was a quiet, steady light inside her - a belief that she was not alone.
As a little girl, Natalie used to look up at the night sky and pray to one particular star. In her imagination it wasn’t just a star: it was sacred.
“So there’s this one story that I tell everyone, and this is how I got my relationship with God. So I used to pray to a star as a child… I think it’s the North Star… So the North Star was God’s house.”
Without being raised with religion, Natalie still held faith - instinctively, tenderly - as if her heart already knew there was something greater holding her through it all. Night after night, she would pray with a child’s simplicity and longing: to be safe, to be loved, to see her mum again.

Her grandparents became her anchor - a place of care, food, routine, and the kind of love that steadies you. But Natalie’s life still carried the weight of neglect and hardship, and as she grew older she witnessed more than most teenagers ever should. Through it all, she didn’t become hardened. She became soft in the most powerful way: compassionate, forgiving, deeply aware that people carry stories you can’t always see.
Later, when Natalie encountered Islam through the family who took her in and cared for her, something clicked into place. The faith she had carried since childhood found its name and its home. She describes Islam as the thing that gave her peace, not by denying suffering, but by helping her understand it.
Faith became her rock. A steady centre. A way of making meaning from what she had lived through and a way of building a life rooted in love.

That love is most visible in the mother Natalie has become. She is devoted to her children: present, protective, and intentional. She pours into them what she once needed most: steadiness, warmth, and a home where they feel emotionally held. She wants them to grow up humble, kind, and free from judgement knowing that everyone has their own journey.
Alongside motherhood, Natalie’s creativity shines. She is an artist at heart especially through cake-making, where imagination and beauty become something you can share. Her dream is to grow her cake business, creating with joy and purpose, and building something that reflects who she truly is.
Natalie’s story is one of endurance but it doesn’t centre pain. It centres light.
A little girl, looking up at the North Star, speaking into the night with hope.
A woman now, grounded in faith, raising her children with devotion, and turning survival into meaning, love, and creativity.
And through every chapter, the same truth remains: even when life was uncertain, Natalie believed there was always God.
